| About Us Our work is centered around careful harvesting and responsible use of macadamia nuts that are not selected for the human market but are well suited for parrots and other birds. We believe this is a thoughtful and sustainable way to use the harvest while supporting bird owners and caretakers. We work directly with our farm and handle each batch with attention to consistency and reliability. Our goal is to make the process simple and transparent — from selection to delivery. Jimmy “Jim” Medeiros Sr. is a Native Hawaiian cultural practitioner and community leader from South Kona, Hawaiʻi, descended from aliʻi (Hawaiian royalty) and raised on the farmlands of Kona. He has dedicated much of his life to preserving Hawaiian cultural heritage and land rights, notably through his role as President of Protect Keopuka ʻOhana, a nonprofit advocating for indigenous perspectives in land use and cultural preservation. Jim has consulted on cultural and historic site protection around Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park and worked with federal leaders, including testifying before the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in support of expanding park protections. His experiences and advocacy are recounted in Kealohapauole, A Love That Never Ends, a nonfiction account of cultural resilience, land battles, and the fight to maintain Hawaiian identity amid development pressures. Jimmy draws on his deep connection to the land through an agricultural practice rooted in āina stewardship. At his family farm in Hawai‘i, he harvests and processes macadamia nuts in the shell, producing them as a natural supplemental food resource for birds and local wildlife. Macadamia nuts are one of Hawai‘i’s traditional agricultural crops and a significant product of the state’s diversified agriculture. By processing nuts on-farm and offering them in the shell for birds, Jim’s work reflects a holistic approach to land use that supports native ecology, reduces waste, and embodies the values of sustainable cultivation and care for the environment that he has championed in his cultural advocacy and community stewardship efforts. |
